After pitching what many are calling "the game of his life" Nick Adenhart's life came to a tragic end early Thursday morning. The 22-year-old's Mitsubishi Eclipse was hit by a suspected drunk driver in Fullerton, CA killing 3 people (including Adenhart) and sending 1 other to the hospital in critical condition. Baseball is merely a game but what a great one Adenhart threw (6 shutout innings, 5 strikeouts) in what would ultimately be his last.

Currently on a 12-game winning streak (which just so happens to be a Cavaliers franchise record) and the 2nd leading scorer in the NBA LeBron James is clearly on top of his game. As his Nike slogan so cleverly puts it truly "We are all witnesses". King James recently sat down with "60 Minutes" Steve Kroft for a candid 1-on-1 interview. My favorite moment...

Kroft- "You do know what 60 minutes is right?"

LeBron- "Yeah, It's an hour...right (laughs)."

No I haven't seen the movie yet although I've heard (from more than one person) it was fantastic. Here's one we'll file under the "Things that make you go hmmm category." Louisiana governor Piyush "Bobby" Jindal criticized President Barack Obama's economic stimulus plan as "wasteful spending" but according to a Louisiana newspaper Jindal and other officials from the great sate of Louisiana have requested funds (from the economic stimulus) somewhere in the neighborhood of $100 million to build a rail facility from Baton Rouge to New Orleans. Honestly I'm a firm believer that the people of Baton Rouge should be able to enjoy a cold beverage on Bourbon Street but seriously Governor Jindal with a state that is still suffering from the effects of one of the worst hurricanes in US history I'm sure there is a better way to use those funds (if you want them). I knew you should never trust a guy that got his nickname from watching the Brady Bunch! FYI... In no way am I suggesting Gov Jindal is from the slums or a millionaire (it's just a play on words people!) Here's an excerpt from MSNBC...Thoughts???

Well its official, Barack Obama will become the 44th president of the United States of America after a resounding win in this year’s presidential election. The leader of the free world was not the only thing that changed last Tuesday with much attention being paid to a proposed law in California called "Proposition 8" which was passed by left coast voters. The "cliff notes" version of "Prop 8" (as it is more commonly known) eliminates the rights of same sex couples to marry in California. While many (myself included) have no personal connection to this issue it does raise an interesting question...Does the government have the right to dictate lifestyles? MSNBC anchor Keith Olbermann had a powerful opinion in his final word on Monday's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann". What's your take on the issue?

During the 2004 presidential election hip hop mogul (I hate that term) Sean "Diddy" Combs coined the phrase "Vote or Die". Well during this year’s campaign Combs is at it again at least with the voting...and less dying (which is obviously a good thing). "Diddy" as he is affectionately known has never been one to bite his tongue, (though often times he should) started his own political blog.

Things that make you go hmmmm.... The latest rift in the world of journalism is amongst two people who seem worlds apart. Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly and hip hop artist Nas have been throwing jabs at each other through...you guessed it...the TV. Here's the cliff notes version...Nas signed on to be a part of a concert at Virginia Tech to raise money for the school and families of the more than 30 people killed in the school shooting in 2007...O'Reilly questioned the move on the part of the school...his point...allowing a rapper with lyrics according to O'Reilly "as violent as they come" to perform at a benefit concert seemed counter productive...point taken...at least in VA Tech's eyes...Nas was taken off the list of performers for the concert...Nas has recently

claimed that O'Reilly and the brass at Fox News are nothing but racists...Nasty Nas or Esco even went as far as trying to serve Fox News with a petition signed by more than 600,000 people urging Fox News to stop its racist rhetoric...What's your take on the whole situation?

Public Relations Nightmare!!!!

Sometimes you just don't get it right no matter how hard you try. This week's award goes to the United States Army. Now most of us are truly appreciative of the hard work and dedication of our servicemen and women but even Uncle Sam can blow it at times (no pun intended). Caleb Campbell was a 7th round pick of the Detroit Lions in the 2008 NFL draft. Army policy "at the time" would have allowed Campbell to to serve as a recruiter if he made the team. We'll that's all changed as of this week as Army officials informed Lions personnel that Campbell had to "give up football for full time traditional military duties" until 2010 that is. Is this a bad call by the Army? Or does the military have the right to change their mind?

Imagine a guy who had an impressive collegiate career at Stanford University racking up first team All America honors as a junior and leading his team to 3 NCAA tournament appearances before leaving school for the NBA. Now this same young man was the 6th overall pick in the 2004 NBA draft and is averaging double figures in "The League" after 4 seasons. Still following? To make a long story short he's good...not great but good. And "he" is Atlanta Hawks swingman Josh Childress...excuse me former Hawks swingman Josh Childress whom recently signed a 3-year $32.5 million contract to play for Olympiakos in Greece! Is he crazy...that's a possibility...but he's smart...he called the Hawks bluff and now he's reaping the rewards overseas...What's your take? Is it smart for players to play overseas for more money? Or is the exposure in the NBA worth more than the monetary rewards of hooping in another country?

Got it...but seriously you may have crossed the line on this one. Sort of like Rick James...Remember when Charlie Murpy (on Chappelle's Show) said "He's a habitual line stepper." A national publication showing a president and his wife dressed in Muslim and militant garb, flag burning in the fireplace and a picture of Osama Bin Laden on the wall...a misconception?...perhaps...but as an editor of a publication there are red flags all over this picture (not including the one burning in the fireplace). Both the Obama and McCain campaigns have criticized the cover but officials over at the New Yorker have defended their actions. So whats your take? Is the picture nothing but political satire and all in good fun...or grossly over the top and out of line?

For the past week I've been working out of NYC helping shoot a new tv pilot. Strolling down 43rd Street I was convinced I saw Hillary Clinton wearing a t-shirt that resembled one of these. Ok "I kid...I kid" (in my best Triumph the Insult Comic Dog impression) but I wouldn't be surprised to see Mrs. Clinton snuggled up with the presumptive Democratic Nominee in the very near future. Her (future) political aspirations may very well depend on it. The list of potential running mates for "my homeboy" excuse me Barack seem slim to none. The best choices may soon be residing at "SunnyLand Retirement Home" and the best of the rest are virtual unknowns (sort of like a Jean Grae appearance on a Talib Kweli album). So here's the question is Hillary almost a shoe in as Barack's running mate? Who do you think should fill that spot?

Admit it Mixed Martial Arts fighter Kimbo Slice got his "you know what" kicked. Great job CBS you got what you wanted great ratings by exploiting a former homeless man with a gold grill, gold chains and one of the most diabolical beards in the history of man kind (I have to admit I borrowed that one from Kenny W). Lucky for us the big wigs at "the eye" were smart enough to have Gus Johnson (aka. college hoops most electrifying announcer) call the fight. My favorite line "Kimbo Slice swinging for the fences" classic! Anyway after getting beat down for the first 2 rounds Slice was able to connect on the cauliflower on the ear of his opponent the size of mini me from Austin Powers. Appropriate for network television? That's the question I pose to you...Do remember were living in a world of CSI's Law and Orders, The First 48 (where dead bodies, blood and everything in between seems to win ratings)...

When you think Andruw Jones what happened to the 10 time golden glove award winning centerfielder. Or better yet the slugger with enough pop to make Justin Timberlake jealous. We'll now Dodger fans can enjoy watching the pleasantly plump Jones (and his .165 ba) on the bench after undergoing surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. What a waste of a 6th round fantasy baseball pick...man it must be good to be Mark Kotsay or at least an Atlanta Braves fan right now...

Age ain't nothing but a number. That's what the late R&B singer Aaliyah said. But this years democratic nomination has done just that come down to numbers (minus the age thing). So lets add it up (just remember I failed almost every math class i took since the 4th grade) whomever gets the nomination needs 2,o26 delegates. Barack has 1,978 to Hillary's 1,780. Is it time for her to bow out gracefully as most political pundits suggest? Possibly but as ironic as it may sound "We need a resolution" (thanks Aaliyah!)
